  • Since 1961, more than 1,500,000 men, women, and children ranging in age from nine days to 100+ years, have had their sight restored by cornea transplantation. 

  • More than 1 million tissue transplants are done each year and the surgical need for tissue has been steadily rising.

  • Every 10 minutes another name is added to the national organ transplant waiting list.

  • 23,715 transplants were from deceased donors in 2014.  Similarly, it was the first time more than 23,000 deceased-donor transplants were done in a year.

  • An average of 22 people die each day because an organ was not made available for transplant.

  • 2014 was a record breaking year for the number of transplants performed and the number of deceased donor transplants.
